OPTOMAP

OPTOS Daytona Optomap Retinal ScanEye Exams Without Dilation?

Not only is dilation a nuisance for the patient, it is also frustrating for the doctor to try to deal with an unwilling patient. An explanation usually ensues with the patient eventually understanding that dilation is simply part of the process, an important component that should never be optional. However, an exciting technology has been developed that may allow you to have a comprehensive retinal exam without the use of dilating drops. Optomap®, a product developed by Optos®, is a retinal imaging product that gives doctors a view of the retina without the use of dilating drops.

Optomap is a low-powered scanning laser ophthalmoscope that digitally scans the retina. The test is non-invasive and takes only seconds to complete. Different wavelengths of laser light are used to capture the image. The image can then be filtered, allowing various layers of the retina to be evaluated. The image can be viewed on a computer monitor and stored for future comparisons.

Another advantage of Optomap technology is that the retinal image is displayed immediately. This lets the eye care professional to review it quickly, and if necessary, refer the patient to a retinal specialist. Using the internet, the image can be sent anywhere in the world for a specialist to review immediately.

ANNIDIS RHA 2020

Our Yorkville optometrists are very pleased to announce the addition of this new retinal imaging device to our office. It is unique in several ways. It provides us with a central 43 degree view of all the retinal tissues. Of course this includes the important macula (center of the back of the eye) and optic nerve (neurological connection of eye to brain) The device utilizes different wavelengths of light to separate the neurological layers of the eye. This provides us with more detail than ever before and helps us make the proper recommendations to our patients. Some eye conditions are obvious and easy to detect but many can be very subtle. The Annidis RHA 2020 enables your doctor to potentially find a condition in the back of the eye long before the patient has any signs or symptoms.

We are very excited to be one of the first practices to offer this to our patients!

CONTACT LENS RADIUSCOPE AND LENSOMETER

This is one of the ways in which our office has distinguished itself as a leader in the contact lens industry. These two devises are designed specifically to accurately measure the parameters of hard and (non-disposable) soft contact lenses. Most stores and offices simply call patients to let them know when their contact lenses have arrived. Sometimes lens manufacturers produce an inferior product (defective) In our office it is standard practice to measure all contact lenses other than sealed disposables prior to the patients coming in to pick them up. This is a service that patients have come to appreciate as their time is valuable.;

ww Humphrey Visual Field AnalyzerVISUAL FIELD TESTING

A visual field test is an examination that may be performed to analyze a patient's visual field. The exam may be performed by a technician in one of several ways. The test may be performed by a technician directly, with the assistance of a machine, or completely by an automated machine. Machine based tests aid diagnostics by allowing a detailed printout of the patient's visual field.

The patient sits in front of a concave dome with a target in the center. The eye that is not being tested is covered. A button is given to the patient to be used during the exam. The patient is set in front of the dome and asked to focus on the target at the center. A computer then shines lights on the inside dome and the patient clicks the button whenever a light is seen. The computer then automatically maps and calculates the patient's visual field.

PACHYMETRY

A pachymeter is a medical device used to measure the thickness of the eye's cornea. It is used prior to LASIK surgery, and is useful in screening for patients suspected of developing glaucoma. Modern design incorporates ultrasound technology for measurement of the thickness. Earlier models were based on optometry principles.

LASIK and Refractive Surgeries

LASIK has been for many years the leading procedure for improving sight. Ask us about co-management of LASIK and other Refractive Surgeries.

TearLab Osmolarity System saasTearLab

The TearLab Osmolarity System is intended to measure the osmolarity of human tears to aid in the diagnosis of dry eye disease in patients suspected of having dry eye disease, in conjunction with other methods of clinical evaluation. TearLab is for professional in vitro diagnostic use only.

Hyperosmolarity has been described in the literature as a primary marker of tear film integrity. When the quantity or quality of secreted tears is compromised (known as aqueous deficient or evaporative Dry Eye Disease), increased rates of evaporation lead to a more concentrated tear film (increased osmolarity) that places stress on the corneal epithelium and conjunctiva.

Optovue Avanti (OCT)

Optovue continues it's leadership of the OCT market with the Avanti, a Widefield En Face OCT with SMART Motion Correction and simultaneous, multi-layered assessment of peripheral retina pathology. Avanti is a multi-dimensional platform for future OCT innovations, including FA OCT, 4D-OCT, and Blood Flow analysis.

This device is one of the most important pieces of diagnostic equipment in our office. It has very diverse uses. It obtains objective valuable and reliable information for patients with diabetes, macular degeneration, glaucoma and all retinal problems and diseases. It is non-invasive and easy for our technicians to operate.
